Good Job is Treee City’s debut full-length album on Raund Haus Records. Recorded over the span of 2019-2022, the album is a collection of moments and ideas from right before COVID up to the present day. Tracks are aimed squarely at the dancefloor, with infectious house flavors and immersive atmospheres. Featuring collaborations with Raund Haus labelmates FootRocket and Funkleberry, Party Illegal co-organizer PlayPlay, and longtime collaborator Chris Martz, this album reflects building a voice and style through a community of artists over many years.
“I wanted it to feel like a story but without any particular narrative attached–more like a collection of moments with an emotional charge to them,” he says of the album. “At the end of putting all the tracks together the sound of the album started to coalesce, and each track would tell me what needed to happen in the other ones. I think this project ultimately is about hope, and trying to see each day as a gift and your experiences as lessons, and learning to bet on yourself. Trying to earn a living from music is hard. Finishing songs is hard. I wanted to make songs good enough that I had to finish them, so the experience of finishing the album could be more enjoyable, rather than this huge list of things I had to do and stress about money and the music industry and all of that. I wanted to just focus on making the music I want to hear, something that I would want to dance to, and sharing it with people.”
