Hubbble drops his first duo of tracks for 2021 with ‘Know Your Own Risk’, out 5/14/21. The Raund Haus Records Co-Founder captures the pervasive feeling of ‘Weltschmerz’ in a society in lockdown (yet still has some groove left in them) on the A Side ‘Know Your Own Risk’ while the B track, ‘Getting Somewhere’ keeps it funky with some soaring leads and righteous bass.
The primary sample on the title track is lifted from an explanation of the plot summary of the stage play, ‘Infected’ by lbert Ostermaier. Asking the audience to consider ‘What does it Mean to be in Quarantine’, the narrator of the track flutters over a housey aura before being dumped onto another level of groove and internal ‘Quarantine’. An apt environment for reflection.
‘Getting Somewhere’ continues with the driving rhythms but goes for the more subtle aspects of introspection found in dance-floor oriented tracks. Hubble can’t get away without adding a little swing to the session though and the cut eventually achieves a culmination that is meant for cruising without a definitive path in mind.
